Police who searched a Miludra’s house allegedly uncovered a large cache of weapons including kuckledusters and nunchakus as well as a stash of drugs

Dale Williams, 49, fronted Mildura Magistrates Court on Thursday on charges including prohibited person possessing firearm and drug trafficking charges.

Police claimed a search of Mr Williams’ house uncovered 55 grams of methamphetamine, more than 500 grams of cannabis, along with cocaine, heroin, and other substances.

Ammunition, knuckledusters, knives, nunchakus, and multiple imitation firearms were also allegedly seized from Mr Williams’ home.

An iPad and iPhone retrieved from the property allegedly contained messages related to drug trafficking.

Mr Williams’ lawyer, Nadia Giorgianni, argued that her client risked losing his home if given a lengthy prison term and highlighted how his time in custody had worsened his mental health.

Ms Giorgianni also noted that his incarceration had helped him overcome his substance abuse, describing his alleged offending as part of “a bumpy road to recovery”.

Police prosecutor Raef Oliver said the array of drugs allegedly found by police indicated that Mr Williams’ house was a “one-stop shop for substances.”

Mr Oliver also pointed out that Mr Williams had been serving a community corrections order at the time of the alleged offending.

Magistrate Patrick Southey noted that while Mr Williams had faced significant struggles, there was potential for rehabilitation.

“I get the sense he is far from a lost cause,” Mr Southey said.

“It’s remarkable how well he is travelling given how long he has been taking drugs for.”

Mr Southey indicated that Mr Williams would receive a seven-month jail term followed by a community corrections order aimed at addressing his substance abuse and mental health issues if he pleads guilty..

Mr Williams accepted a sentence indication of seven months’ jail, but formal sentencing has been adjourned until next week, pending further legal proceedings.
