Mickael Combes road rampage comes to an end in Magistrates Court

A French national with an expired visa turned Mildura’s streets into his personal playground, culminating in a wild spree of offences from dangerous driving to possession of child abuse material.

Defying every road rule in the book, Mickael Combes’ reign of road anarchy in Mildura came to an abrupt end in court, as he faced a litany of charges from dangerous driving to possession of child abuse material.

The 33-year-old was stopped by police three times in December on Mildura roads for a litany of driving offences.

It was also discovered the French national had overstayed his visa.

Court documents provided to the Herald Sun detailed the incident on December 15 when police spotted Combes riding his motorbike and attempted to pull him over.

In a daring bid to escape, he accelerated to high speeds, entered a roundabout going in the wrong direction, before braking heavily – leaving tyre marks stretching at least 10m — and being thrown off of his bike.

After being arrested, police found a USB on him, allegedly containing child exploitation material.

This followed another incident six days earlier where he was clocked travelling more than 30km over the speed limit, and a separate occasion just days before that, where he tested positive for illicit drugs while driving.

Combes pleaded guilty to the driving offences and incurred over $1000 in fines, had his licence disqualified for an additional three months, and received a 30-day prison sentence, which he had already served while awaiting his hearing.

He is due to appear before court again on the child abuse charges on February 14, via an AV link, from an immigration detention centre.
