VCE 2020: How schools in Melbourne ranked

The best schools in inner Melbourne have been revealed based on 2020 VCE results. See how your school ranked.

Seven schools in Melbourne have been ranked among the state’s best, based on 2020 VCE results.

Victoria’s top VCE schools have been revealed in an analysis of their results.

The median study score — which is out of 50 and shows how the entire class performed in their final year of school — has been released for every campus.

Seven Melbourne schools ranked in the top 100 including Melbourne High School, Melbourne Girls Grammar, Melbourne Grammar, Melbourne Girls’ College, Victorian College of the Arts, University High School and Wesley College.

Selective entry boys only Melbourne High School; s class ATAR average was 94.8, with 15.5 per cent of students receiving a 99+ score and four students achieving a perfect score of 99.95.

Girls’ schools claimed more than half the top 20 spots, while metro Melbourne schools also dominated.

University High School Ciar Foster praised staff and students, saying the results were better than 2019.

“We are so proud of the achievements of all our students in 2020, and delighted with strong outcomes across the school.” she said.

“This a credit to the hard work of students and staff throughout their time at University High School.

“Our 2020 results are steady with, or improved upon, those of 2019 across a range of areas, continuing the tradition of excellence at our school.

“They represent the efforts of students through a total of 1541 Study Scores across 32+ subjects.”

School highlights include 17 students receiving at ATAR of 99 and above and the dux achieving a score of 99.85.
