The winners are in for Victoria’s best mullet and one little two-year-old has taken the top prize.
Billy Whitlock, 2, from Cranbourne has been given the prestigious title of Victoria's best mullet.
Billy’s father, Clain, was stoked to hear the news.
“Yeah little Billy’s only two turning three in December. We’ve never had his hair cut in the back. It’s au naturale,” Mr Whitlock said.
“My wife and I wanted Billy to have a mullet before he was born. We had the idea when he was cooking in the oven. They were so popular and now we just can’t imagine him without it.”
Despite growing the long locks, the hair-do does need a bit of maintenance.
“He’s definitely due for a trim up top. He’s booked into tomorrow to sharpen it up a bit,” Mr Whitlock said.
The plan is to keep the mullet growing but Mr and Mrs Whitlock will agree to chop it off whenever Billy’s ready.
Nine-year-old Patrick Lewis placed second and he’s growing his mullet with a purpose.
The Seaford boy wants to help kids struggling with cancer.
“One day he came up to me, off his own back, and said he wanted to donate it,” mum Aleesha Lewis said.
“Now he’s just trying to grow it long enough and we’ll go through the steps to raise the money and donate. But he is very attached to his mullet though, so we might have to wait until after Christmas.”
Patrick's been growing out his locks for more than three years and he’s known around school as “the mullet boy”.
Mrs Lewis said it was his "signature thing” so they thought it was sure to drum up donations in the community.
Rounding off the competition in third place is Oliver Senior, rocking a unique style that mixes the Bowl Cut with a 90s mullet.
Oliver started growing his hair in 2021 just to annoy his dad but now it has become a permanent part of his look.
While he hasn’t managed to win over his dad, Oliver’s mother Belinda loves the retro do.
