A Fawkner man accused of sexual assault has had his case delayed after changing lawyers and revising his plea.
Rezanuzzaman Chowdhury, 70, appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on December 19, facing two charges of sexual assault.
Police allege Mr Chowdhury touched another person in a sexual manner without their consent in April 2021 at a Fawkner address.
On Thursday, the court heard Mr Chowdhury had recently changed lawyers and had recanted on his initial plea of guilty to the charges.
Due to a guilty plea being entered on prior date, police said victim impact statements had already been collected.
The court was told Mr Chowdhury would also face charges “of a similar nature” at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court in January next year.
