The owner of two popular Richmond venues accused of selling alcohol while not having a liquor licence has had their case delayed a second time.
Darren Legg of Legg and Hicks Enterprises Pty Ltd fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 17, facing one charge of selling liquor without a licence and one charge of failing to produce a liquor licence when requested.
The matter had been delayed from the previous date in August due to other court proceedings involving Mr Legg and his co-owner regarding the businesses.
The matter was further delayed on Tuesday after an offer was made between the defence and prosecution, with the delay totalling 11 months.
Mr Legg’s defence team asked the court for a further adjournment, so the prosecution could consider the offer.
Magistrate Donna Bakos agreed but said there would be no further adjournments passed the next date.
“These charges have been on foot since December 2023,” she said.
“The matters must proceed.”
The matter will continue at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 19.
