Police are hunting for the driver of a white utility after a female officer was injured in a hit run at a school in Melbourne’s south east.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward after an officer was injured in a hit run while responding to an alarm at Patterson River Secondary College.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers were called to the Eel Race Rd school in Seaford at about 3am on Sunday.

At the scene, a female officer was struck and injured by a vehicle that was driving on school ground.

She was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the spokeswoman, while the driver fled the scene.

The vehicle has been described as a white utility with a silver tray.

Neither the utility nor the driver have been located.
