A Narre Warren South man has been accused of ripping off hard working Australians to the tune of more than $500k in an online scam.

Steven Meneghetti, who was self-represented, pleaded not guilty at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to 41 charges including dealing with proceeds of crime, recklessly dealing with proceeds of crime, possessing cannabis, cultivating cannabis and unlawful storage of a firearm.

Charge sheets revealed the 30-year-old’s biggest alleged scam occured on April 13, 2022 where he dealt with proceeds of crime, namely a funds transfer to the value of $500,019.

It’s also alleged in 2022 Mr Meneghetti had transferred other large sums of money in the months of March to July.

Some of the activity included transfers of more than $250,000 in June, more than $100,000 in March, more than $7100 in May and more than $40,000 in July.

Mr Meneghetti also allegedly cultivated and possessed cannabis on August 23, 2022, according to charge sheets.

Magistrate Cecily Hollingworth ordered Mr Meneghetti to appear at the County Court for a directions hearing in January next year and his bail was extended until then.
