Police have arrested a man are a woma was abducted from a popular Melbourne night spot and later raped.
Motaz Alsabouni, 43, of Roxburgh Park, appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday over the alleged assault, which police said happened just after 1.30am on Friday on Collingwood’s Smith St.
Mr Alsabouni, who was charged yesterday by Victoria Police’s Mernda detectives, did not apply for bail and was remanded for a committal mention on May 20.
Police will allege the victim was picked up by an “unknown male” at 1.35am and driven to Northcote.
Police allege that when the woman got out of her car she was assaulted by Mr Alsabouni, who drove away before the victim contacted police.
