Moonlight Cinema releases Melbourne program for BYO in Royal Botanic Gardens gardens
Pack your picnic and pop your bubbly, the Moonlight Cinema is back in Melbourne this summer. Here’s a first look at the jam-packed program.

The Moonlight Cinema is coming is back this summer, with a jam-packed line-up for ovie buffs.
Returning for another year the picnic friendly event will be hosted in the Royal Botanic Gardens with new COVID-19 measures put in place including changes to venue capacity.
Moonlight guests can BYO drinks and food and relish in the summer sunset in the park or buy from vendors onsite.
OPENING NIGHT
PULP FICTION
The 1994 cult classic Pulp Fiction will open the Moonlight season.
The American black comedy stars John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman.
SUPERHERO SUNDAY
Each Sunday will feature action and adventure each week with an Oscar-winning schedule on the cards including Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy.
BLACK PANTHER
Black Panther, the first Marvel movie blockbuster to put a superhero of colour at the epicentre of the action.
Black Panther begins in the wake of those scenes in Captain America: Civil War where we were first introduced to Prince T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and his secret superhero guise of Black Panther.
THOR: RAGNAROK
Thor’s race against time to save Asgard from destruction in Thor: Ragnarok.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Marvel’s favourite intergalactic ragtag group, Guardians of the Galaxy.
2020 HITS
Some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters will be on show with stories of international espionage, bankers framed by FBI agents, cartoons for the kids and more.
TENET
Tenet, starring Robert Pattinson, John David Washington, and Elizabeth Debicki in a mind-bending journey of international espionage.
HONEST THIEF
Liam Neeson’s newest action-packed outing in Honest Thief, about a professional banker framed for murder by two FBI agents.
TROLLS WORLD TOUR
Families can enjoy Trolls World Tour, a sequel to 2016’s hit Trolls film, starring Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, James Cordon, and more.
RAMS
The very best Australian talent will be proudly displayed at Moonlight with Rams, a heartfelt dramedy starring Sam Neill and Michael Caton as two warring brothers.
MUSICALS
Musicals in the park will feature this year with some classic numbers on show so you can belt out hits.
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN
The Greatest Showman, starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, and Zendaya.
MOULIN ROUGE
Immerse yourself in the dreamy magic of Paris in Moulin Rouge, with Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman.
VIP LOUNGE
For locals looking to step up the twilight experience there is VIP lounging options for sale ranging from private area for your mates to top-notch wait service.
The up-market options include complimentary ice cream in the Connoisseur Lounge or treat yourself to an Espresso Martini in the fully catered Platinum Experience.
In light of COVID-19 social distancing and increased hygiene measures have been introduced including hand sanitising stations and contactless payments.
The Moonlight Cinema will be back on at the Royal Botanic Gardens opening on January 7 and running until April 25.
