We’ve found a unique alternative to the Melbourne staycation that offers not only first class accommodation but a Southeast Asian-inspired cuisine to-die-for.
The Quincy Hotel has launched it’s Salted Egg restaurant, and for those wanting a scenic view and cocktail to match — a unique rooftop bar with uninterrupted skyline views.
Everything from the rooftop cocktails to the snacks found in the mini bar, aim to transport guests out of the CBD to a Southeast Asian getaway, while using an abundance of Victorian suppliers.
Quincy Hotel Melbourne General Manager Christian Price said the Flinders Lane hotel was a “melting pot” where each guest was a VIP.
“Quincy Melbourne is going to be a melting pot of cultures and different personalities, where people can enjoy themselves and be themselves,” Mr Price said.
“We’re going to make it fun for every single person who walks through the door, where individuality and diversity are celebrated, and everyone’s a VVIP (very, very).”
On the first floor, Salted Egg is where Melburnians can find a la carte and set menu degustation options, which start at $35, $65 and $75 per person.
Salted Egg executive chef Adam Woodfield has a background working in iconic venues including Chin Chin and Hamilton Island’s Coca Chu.
Woodfield said the menu reminded him of, the frenetic buzz and sinus-clearing fragrance of Southeast Asia’s hawker style stalls.
Menu highlights:
Smoked eel betel leaf with saw tooth coriander and peanuts
Raw kingfish with green nahm jim, taro chips, finger lime and shiso
Prawn shu mai dumplings with smoked salmon roe, chilli oil and Sichuan salt
Once you’ve tasted Salted Egg’s delicacies, take the lift 28 floors up to the rooftop bar and pool and prepare to be blown away by twinkling lights scattered across the Melbourne skyline.
The unrestricted view is a refreshing change to the city hustle, presenting an abundance of entertainment for solo travellers or office workers seeking a secluded drink.
