A Narre Warren man charged with murder after another man was left to die outside a Melbourne hospital has been granted a psychological assessment before his next court appearance.
Jordan Riley remained silent with his arms by his side as he briefly appeared via videolink in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday afternoon.
The 40-year-old’s lawyer asked for an adjournment to allow time for psychological reports to be prepared in relation to his mental capacity.
Mr Riley was charged with murder after 45-year-old Daniel Cockerill was dumped outside Casey Hospital with a stab wound to his chest on March 26.
As previously heard in court, police allege a maroon sedan entered the hospital’s emergency bay about 7.30am on March 26 before the driver got out and called for help and allegedly pulled a man from the car.
The unconscious man was treated by hospital staff before the driver allegedly fled the scene.
Mr Cockerill died a short time later.
Previously released court documents reveal that police allege Mr Jordan murdered Mr Cockerill at Berwick on the same morning he was left at the hospital.
The matter was adjourned to November 30.
