James Davies pleads guilty to defrauding NDIS in Melbourne court

A man has pleaded guilty to defrauding the NDIS by altering participant plans to claim payments for services never provided while a co-accused faces similar charges.

A man has pleaded guilty to defrauding the NDIS by altering participants’ plans to claim payments for services never provided.

A second person has also been accused of allegedly being involved in changing NDIS plans.

James Richard Barton Davies, 35, appeared via video link in Melbourne County Court on Wednesday and where he pleaded guilty to one charge of conduct intending to dishonestly cause loss to a Commonwealth entity.

In April and May 2020 Davies, who lives in Western Australia, altered the plans of participants of the NDIS.

He then made payment requests to the National Disability Insurance Agency for services that were never provided.

Davies was charged with the offence occurring in Moonee Ponds and other places in Victoria.

The co-accused, Mahziar Bahreini, was also allegedly involved in defrauding the NDIS, the court heard.

The matter was adjourned until November 24 for a plea hearing.
