Immigration Museum: Market Street and Flinders Lane woman charged with

A woman who was allegedly assaulted in the CBD has been arrested for “hindering” police who arrived to arrest her attacker.

A woman who had allegedly been attacked, spat at police who were trying to help in Melbourne’s CBD.

Police attended at the corner of Market St and Flinders Lane, where it is alleged a 31-year-old man assaulted a woman outside the Immigration Museum about 5.10pm on April 30.

The man was arrested but the 28-year-old woman refused medical help for non-life-threatening injuries.

It is believed the pair were known to each other.

Victoria Police media officer Sergeant Megan Stefane said the woman was later arrested.

“A 28-year-old woman was arrested at the scene for hindering police,” Sgt Stefane said.

The man was put into the back of a police van while the woman was slumped on the ground outside the Immigration Museum allegedly becoming disgruntled at police.

The 28-year-old woman is expected to be charged on summons and will appear at a Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

The 31-year-old man is expected to be charged on summons to appear at a Magistrates’ court for assault related offences.
