The scene of a car crash in Melbourne’s west has been transformed into an art installation courtesy of a passer-by choosing to see the funny side of things.
A silver Ford Falcon that crashed into a tree at a West Footscray car park is actually a “moving piece” of art, according to a local curator believed to be operating under a pseudonym.
The registered vehicle, which was still resting in a car park at Hansen Reserve on Tuesday afternoon, is understood to have crashed on Friday night.
Attached to the slightly damaged tree was a laminated plaque attributing the wreckage to an unknown artist under the category of “mixed metals”.
“This piece depicts the strength of the natural world versus the transitory nature of a BA Falcon ripping fat skids,” the plaque said.
“Such a moving piece.”
The curator signed off under the name Edward Jones.
It is unknown whether the vehicle was stolen.
The plaque was no longer attached to the tree on Tuesday afternoon.
Victorian Police was contacted for comment.
