A fantasiser who spoke to an unidentified person online about the rape and torture of toddlers and babies to the extent that nothing was out of bounds has escaped jail.

Among things George Weaver (a pseudonym) told a user on a chat platform were that paedophile Nazis were his ultimate fantasy and that he wanted to sexually assault a child as it was being born.

Judge Peter Berman sentenced Weaver to be of good behaviour for three years on a charge of using a carriage service to make available child abuse material.

Weaver engaged in conversations with another person on 15 separate occasions between November 2020 and July 2021 so both could gain sexual stimulation.

Judge Berman said Weaver engaged in conduct which was disgusting, reprehensible and frankly, deeply disturbing.

“Were the subject matter of your conversations not to have involved the sexual assault and torture of children, it would be appropriate to describe some of the scenes you conjured up as involving cartoonish villainy,” he said.

“You seemed intent on speaking about sexual activities with children which reached the depths of human behaviour.

“Nothing was out of bounds for you, even to the extent of saying that you were “totally addicted to the Nazi stuff ... ‘Paedophile Nazis are my ultimate fantasy’.”

Despite discussing sexual abuse of children and babies, police found no evidence Weaver ever acted on these fantasies.

The unchallenged evidence, Judge Berman said, was that Weaver detested violence, especially towards children, and that he has never shown any sexual interest in them.

However, the judge said conversations around the sexual exploitation of children had the tendency to make it more likely that they would be sexually assaulted and harmed in the most awful way.

What distinguished Weaver’s conduct from others who committed similar offences was that there was no actual children involved and was an important factor the court took into account in not sending him to jail, Judge Berman said.

Psychologist Stephen Say who saw Weaver said the latter’s behaviour arose from a desire to act out of “revenge against older men who represent an unforgiving or unavailable father figure”.

By dominating the other caller and bringing him to uncontrolled climax, Mr Say said Weaver converted himself from a humiliated little boy to someone potent and powerful.
