Filthy Gordon fiend Liam Patterson plied child with drugs during hotel sexual penetration offending

A country Victoria grub fed his 13-year-old child sex victim with meth and vodka after “randomly” adding the girl on Facebook.

What to do if you think a child is being abused

A man enticed his child victim with meth and vodka before sexually violating her without a condom at a cheap North Melbourne hotel.

Liam Patterson, 26, was sentenced in the County Court on Wednesday to a minimum 35-month jail term after pleading guilty to a rolled-up sexual penetration of a child under 16 charge.

Patterson, who “randomly” added his victim on Facebook, messaged the child and arranged to meet her in person in last year.

The court heard Patterson “entered into an agreement” with the victim to provide her drugs and alcohol in exchange for sex.

Patterson, who told his victim he was 18, booked a $67 room at the North Melbourne YHA.

The fiend later met the victim, who told Patterson she was 15, at Southern Cross railway station before they walked back to the cheap hotel.

Patterson plied the child with meth, cannabis and alcohol including Smirnoff vodka, the court was told.

The prosecution submitted the drugs and alcohol were exchanged for sexual favours.

Patterson had unprotected sex with victim multiple times throughout the night.

The court heard Patterson ejaculated in his victim and also penetrated her mouth.

Patterson, who also pleaded guilty to supplying drugs to a child, gave the victim 31 grams of cannabis after the pair left the hotel the next morning.

Patterson, of Victorian town Gordon located about halfway between Melton and Ballarat, later texted the victim.

“Well I know you said you were all good and everything was sweet and I really hope it was and I do get to see you again soon …,” Patterson wrote.

“I think we could actually have fun together if you want to keep meeting up (but) to be honest it’s up to you … hope to see you again soon.”

Persons close to the victim noticed she was drug affected and had “love bites” around her neck.

A person known to the victim contacted Patterson but he “completely denied” knowing the girl.

“Hey it’s Liam and I don’t know what is going on but I don’t know anyone in Bendigo or even go there …,” Patterson wrote.

“Besides that one time I had someone over I was told she was 18 and was too late and nothing happened besides passing out and the next day she was picked up in the morning and I haven’t heard or seen her since …”

Police later raided Patterson’s Gordon home and seized clothing, a mobile phone and cannabis.

Patterson denied any sexual offending nor being at the YHA.

The court heard Patterson, who appeared via videolink from Hopkins Correctional, attended Laverton College then worked at KFC.

Patterson studied a hospitality course before joining KFC where he “worked his way up”, the court was told.

The defence submitted Patterson made a “huge mistake” and it was “highly unlikely” he would commit sexual offending again.

Judge Kevin Doyle said there was a “bit of manipulation” by Patterson to get the child to have sex with him.

Patterson, who was made a registered sex offender for 15 years, was jailed for a maximum four years and 10 months.
