Emily Arena and David Jurd charged with trafficking commercial quantity of meth

A young Melbourne woman allegedly slung meth and coke with an ex-medical student who once found his mate dead.

A Melbourne woman hooked in with a former university medical student has been busted allegedly dealing meth and cocaine.

Emily Arena, 24, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with trafficking cocaine and a commercial quantity of meth.

Arena, who was also charged with various drug possession and dealing with proceeds of crimes offences, was arrested at Melbourne on September 11, 2021.

It’s alleged Arena was nabbed with a stack of meth and cocaine, cannabis, speed, hormones, Viagra, valium, ketamine, anabolic steroids, testosterone, an opioid and 1,4 butanediol.

Arena, who was also charged with trafficking meth, was also allegedly caught with a sword, multiple phones and a “large amount of cash”.

Joining Arena at her arrest was David Jurd, 31, who also fronted court on Wednesday charged with trafficking cocaine and a commercial quantity of meth.

Jurd was allegedly nabbed with meth, cocaine, 1,4 butanediol, steroids, testosterone, cannabis, Viagra, and MDMA.

Jurd, who was also charged with trafficking MDMA and dealing with the proceeds of crime, was also linked to the sword, cash and various mobile phones.

It’s also alleged Jurd trafficked meth and MDMA at Flemington between September 11 and September 18.

Jurd was allegedly caught at Flemington with meth, MDMA, testosterone, a steroid, a breast cancer drug and a Microsoft Surface on September 18.

The prosecutor told the court an offer to resolve put in before drug analysis results came back had been refused by both Jurd and Arena.

However, the prosecutor said drug results had since returned and the commercial quantity charges for both accused remained on the table.

Arena had her bail extended to face court at a later date.

Jurd, who appeared via videolink from Marngoneet Correctional, remained on remand.

The former Melbourne Uni biomed science student once found his mate dead in a Highett motel room on August 31, 2018.

The St Bede’s College graduate and teacher’s son had been an “excellent” high school student, despite being bullied about his weight.

Jurd also commenced a biomedical science degree at Melbourne Uni but dropped out in the second year.

Jurd later sold gym memberships and started his own skin products business.

Jurd later completed a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences and was to commence an honours degree in Psychological Sciences at Swinburne University.
