A socially inept Melbourne man shared a violent sexual fantasy story written in the first person with teenage girls and exchanged child abuse material with them to enhance his self esteem.
Bailey Muller, 22, was busted after police executed a warrant at his home in August 2023 and seized an iPhone that contained nude images, sex stories and sexualised chat involving four females under 16 on Snapchat.
Muller was sentenced in the County Court on Friday to 27 months’ imprisonment, to be released on a recognisance release order for two years after serving nine months.
Judge Peter Rozen said in August 2023, a 12-year-old girl reported to Queensland Police a conversation she had with who she thought was 17-year-old boy from Victoria, but was actually Muller and the matter was referred to Victoria Police for investigation.
He sent photos of his erect penis and two sexualised messages and she forwarded 50 to 60 bra pictures.
Muller sent to a girl he believed was aged between 13 and 15 his Sex Story No 1 which described a violent sexual fantasy written in the first person and referred to a girl with a little p---y in graphic detail.
He also sent photos of his erect penis, Sex Story No 1 to another girl and a number of messages that referred to graphic sexual activity including bestiality and anal sex, rape and incest.
On another occasion, Judge Rozen said Muller sought child abuse material from a girl and received images showing her naked breasts.
He also sent her a number of sexually explicit messages and a pic of his penis.
Muller told police that he had no intention of acting on his violent sexual fantasies, he had no no plans of meeting up with the girls he communicated with and denied having sexual urges for children.
He told a psychologist that communicating with females about sex on the internet provided him with a sense of intimacy and enhanced his self-esteem.
Diagnosed with ADHD and autism spectrum disorder in 2009, Muller was assessed as lacking the social and cognitive skills in terms of thinking through his actions.
‘You communicated with progressively younger girls which further buttressed your self-esteem. It was in this context that you offended,” Judge Rozen said.
He said it was a difficult sentencing exercise as the court, on the one hand, must balance Muller’s youth, a lack of prior conviction, family support, remorse and genuine attempts at rehabilitation while on the other, treat the offence as serious and to denounce his conduct.
“Sadly, it is not unusual for young men to suffer the sort of conditions you suffer to engage in this type of offending for sexual gratification,’’ Judge Rozen said.
“It is also not exceptional for an offender to have commenced treatment before being sentenced. It therefore follows that I must sentence you to a period of imprisonment.”
