YouTube sensation Mark “AngryDad” Orval has revealed he is battling an aggressive prostate cancer.
Orval took to Instagram on Thursday morning to announce the devastating news.
“My life motto has and always will be about honesty, so as I go about my life I can’t be fake … so right now when someone asks me how you going I am not going to say ‘I’m fine’ because I’m not,” he wrote.
“Several weeks ago I got the call you regret from your GP, concerned over blood test results to do with your prostate. Sadly the events that have unfolded since have confirmed I have an aggressive prostate cancer.”
Orval, who played seven games for Collingwood before his career was cut short by injury, shot to fame on social media after falling victim to hilarious pranks played out by his mischievous sons Mitchell and Dylan.
The diagnosis comes just months after his mother lost her life to cancer.
Orval said he missed his annual check due to COVID-19 last year, and urged his male followers to get tested.
“While this is a very private matter I feel the immediate need to share this as a message to ALL men that are at risk of this disease to get tested,” he said.
“I regrettably missed my annual test last year due to Covid and while that now doesn’t matter and can’t change things it highlights the importance of regular tests. 12 months earlier my results were perfect.
“This isn’t about sympathy, rather it’s about highlighting the reality of life as I am not the first and won’t be the last to face a life challenge and believe me I will hit this harder than I have ever hit anything in my life.”
