HE’S only 10 years old but Whittlesea athletics star Isaac Malamatinas has already set his sights on one day winning gold for Australia at the Olympics.
Isaac idolises Jamaican speed freak Usain Bolt and is already doing his best to emulate his hero.
The junior jumping-jack speedster has won state gold medals competing in long jump and hurdles. He also won silver in the 100m sprint.
Such is Isaac’s dominance, there hasn’t been an event he has competed in where he hasn’t won gold or silver.
His mother Tonya said she admired Isaac’s passion and determination.
“It’s good to see a boy his age with such drive to succeed and will to win,” she said.
“He’s already said he’ll compete at the 2020 Olympics, but won’t win anything until he goes to the 2024 Olympics and takes gold in the hurdles.
“He hasn’t actually mentioned winning Australia’s first gold medal in the 100m sprint, but I wouldn’t put it past him.”
Isaac is a Whittlesea Leader Local Sports Stars nominee.
The program is now a national celebration, and junior category winners will be judged for national awards.
Cash prizes as well as vouchers from our sponsor Sportsmart are up for grabs.
