SUNBURY 12-year-old Zac Carletti-De Silva is set to embark on a trip of a lifetime next week as he seeks to wow Italian soccer giants Juventus at the club’s in-house World Cup.
With the Brimbank Stallions an official feeder club of Juventus, the team will be the Australian representative at the championship.
Zac is having his way to the tournament paid by a club sponsor, one of a handful of players to get sponsored to participate.
It comes after dozens of goals as a dominant striker in underage games over recent seasons for the Brimbank Stallions.
Zac said scoring goals was his passion with 12 netted in five matches so far this year.
“I love kicking my goals,” he said. “My ideal goal is a powerful curling strike into the top left corner of the net.”
Zac said playing for Juventus was his dream and following in the footsteps of his idol Cristiano Ronaldo.
Zac’s father, Nicholas De Silva, told the Leader the family hoped Zac could soak up the experience.
“To be sponsored to go is amazing and he is having a great season scoring goals, but we just want him to have fun,” he said.
