TEN-YEAR-OLD Sienna Kurdian is sprinting to athletics success.
Bayswater dad Alex Kurdian said Sienna had been competing in Little Athletics running since she was seven.
Sienna ran in the 100m, 200m and 400m events at the Little Athletics Victoria state championships.
She made the final of the 100m and came seventh.
She has also twice broken Knox Little Athletics Club age group records in the 100m, 200m and 400m.
Mr Kurdian said during the Little Athletics season — September to March — Sienna trained on Monday nights and attended weekend meets.
“I did athletics at school, and it’s enjoyable and encourages kids to get off the couch,” Mr Kurdian said.
“Sienna’s always been good at sport. She’s lean, she’s got long legs and she loves running.”
In the off-season, Sienna competes in cross-country runs each weekend to maintain her fitness.
She also does taekwondo, swimming and school sports.
Sienna is a Knox Leader junior sports star nominee.
Leader Local Sports Stars medallists will be named in seven categories including juniors, teams,

The program is now a national celebration, with winners vying for national awards.
