Leader Sports Star nominee Tristan Price up for triathlon challenge

Mentone’s Tristan Price has been nominated as a Mordialloc Leader Sports Star after being selected for the national team in triathlon. The 15-year-old answers our questions.

How did you get involved in triathlons?

I started going to run training with my dad and I loved it.

What has been your biggest success?

I worked extremely hard to be selected for the national team and had a brilliant race as a bottom-age athlete to achieve sixth place in the nationals in Tasmania.

What do you love most about triathlons?

I love the challenge and the chance to push myself to get a bit better each race.

Describe the toughest challenge you’ve faced in the sport

I have struggled most with getting sleep away from home in order to get race ready. I have worked hard to set a routine and try to take the pressure off.

What is your ultimate sporting goal?

I want to be in the green and gold and represent Australia in triathlon. I am always looking for the next race and the times required to succeed at the event.

Who are your sporting heroes?

The Brownlee brothers (Alistair and Jonny) have always been inspirational.

My dad always finds time to get me to events and training sessions, even sleeping in the car at my 5.15am sessions.
