A GYMNASIUM in Mill Park is continuing to go from strength to strength.
PIT Gymnastics, which has been in Mill Park for 38 years, has recently enjoyed success at state and national competitions.
PIT won the champion club for boys at the Victorian Championships for the third time in six years.
Individually, Emily Awad was state champion on floor for level 7 in the 14 and over age group.
The club’s success continued at national level.
Ben Holden was the rings national champion and he also came second in the vault and third in the high bar.
Anthony Dorrington edged out his teammate to claim the vault title.
Club members Rebecca McConnell and Jaze Dubois also competed at nationals.
PIT director John Dorrington said the club’s success came from hard work.
“We identify and encourage young gymnasts to ensure they get the right training,” Dorrington said.
“Our dedicated coaches put in a lot of time as well.”
The club has produced a number of world championship competitors and has several gymnasts training at the Victorian High Performance Centre.
PIT Gymnastics is eligible to be a Leader Local Sports Star award winner. The awards are supported by Sportsmart, SportsTG and Gold104.3.
