A DONVALE kayaker earmarked as an elite junior is heading to Sydney for a national coaching camp after strong showings at recent events in New Zealand.
Ben Strmecki, 16, competed in New Zealand’s senior championships last month, winning bronze in the intermediate K1 event.
He also took part in the country’s school kayaking championships.
He’s now training at the National Whitewater Centre of Excellence in Penrith under the watchful eye of former Olympian Warwick Draper and other senior national coaches.
