Where every WFNL club’s coaching position stands for 2025

There has been some major changes at Western Football Netball League clubs already this off-season with new coaches named and others re-signed to long-term deals. Here’s what we know.

Western Football Netball League clubs are already in full swing planning for next season.

Coaching moves have been made while others have re-signed.

Here’s where every club sits.

DIVISION 1

Albion: The club confirmed at the halfway mark of the season Blake Richards had signed on for 2025.

Altona: Travis Varcoe led the Vikings during his first season in charge of the club and it’s expected he will continue in the role next season.

Caroline Springs: Brian Lake is expected to continue in the role as he has done for the next two seasons.

Hoppers Crossing: The Warriors have already confirmed Jared Polec has already signed a new extension through to 2027.

Newport: Ali Hamad has been unveiled as the club’s new senior coach in recent days, crossing from EDFL club East Keilor.

Parkside: It’s expected Chris Muratore and Michael Licciardo will continue as co-coaches next season.

Point Cook: The Dogs have turned to Saade Ghazi on a two-year deal as he looks to aim the club back towards finals footy.

Point Cook Centrals: Dean Chambers is expected to be back in charge for the Sharks next season as they look to bounce back.

Spotswood: Steve O’Bryan has been confirmed as the club’s new coach, replacing Tom German. He has signed a two-year deal.

Sunshine: After taking the reins in the middle of the season and guiding the Roos to a premiership, Guy Barbuto is taking on the top job full time.

Werribee Districts: The club is yet to officially confirm whether Chris Gilham will continue in 2024 but it’s expected he will.

Yarraville Seddon: The Eagles confirmed towards the back end of the season coach Brad Julier had re-signed for a further two seasons.

DIVISION 2

Albanvale: Anthony Montrose and Phil Crea have been announced as the club’s new co-coaches after replacing Ange Messina.

Braybrook: The Brookers confirmed late in the season Geoff Maddern would continue next season.

Laverton: Tony Jofre remains on board but will be joined Nick Waddell as co-coach.

North Footscray: There has been no public confirmation on what the future holds for David Battistella.

North Sunshine: Paul Rossiter has been confirmed as the club’s new senior coach, aiming to help lift the Roadrunners off the bottom of the ladder.

Suns: The club is yet to announce their new coach after Dean Cachia announced he was standing down.

Sunshine Heights: The Dragons have confirmed Stephen O’Malley will return for a second season.

Tarneit: The Titans have confirmed Max De Groot will step into the top job, after being the reserves coach last season.

West Footscray: Troy Beamond has signed on for 2025.

Western Rams: The league’s newest club is yet to confirm its new senior coach after Ash Pritchard stood down.

Wyndhamvale: Daniel Smith has been named as the club’s new senior coach, replacing Rob May and Jason Parker.
