Spotswood on the lookout for new senior coach

Spotswood is on the lookout for a new coach after announcing Tom German wouldn’t be in charge for season 2025. And his impact isn’t being forgotten.

Tom German is departing Spotswood and his impact won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

The Western Football Netball League Division 1 club has confirmed German will depart the club after two seasons in charge.

“Tom has been instrumental in growing the clubs playing list to 3 Senior teams post the Covid era and has assisted the club and securing its long term playing future,” the club said in a statement.

“We thank Tom for his contribution to our club. His commitment over the last 2 seasons has been very much appreciated. During Tom’s two year tenure as coach, we have narrowly missed senior finals in both seasons.

“From everyone at Spotswood we thank Tom for his great contribution to our club and wish him all the very best in the future.”

The announcement was met with sadness with club members posting messages of thanks.

“Tom made a great contribution to the club,” Aidan Findlay wrote on Facebook.

“His work with the senior program speaks for itself but what might’ve gone unseen was how extremely generous Tom was with his time across the junior arm of the club, participating in a number of Auskick sessions across the last two years, embracing the junior match day mascots, welcoming the kids into the rooms to soak in a win and as recently as a few weeks ago getting around the U14’s as they prepped for their Grand Final.

“A real gentleman. Thanks Tom, we’ll miss you.”

Johnny Reardon said: “Really enjoyed working with you Tommy. Thanks for everything mate. Good luck in the future.”

Spotswood finished the 2024 season sixth on the ladder.
