It might be a holiday for some but there’s still plenty of football to be held over the King’s Birthday weekend. Here’s every local footy fixture you can watch across Victoria.

Metro Fixtures
EASTERN
Premier Division
Balwyn v. Noble Park – Saturday June 10, Balwyn Park, 2.20pm
The two Eastern league powerhouses renew acquaintances in the annual fixture, with ladder-leading Balwyn hosting reigning premier Noble Park. The Tigers sit a game clear on top of the ladder with seven wins, having won their past four, while the Bulls sit seventh among a logjam of sides on a 5-3 record – just one win from fourth spot.
Division 1
Mooroolbark v. Montrose – Saturday June 10, Heights Reserve, 2.20pm
The local rivals meet in a stand-alone Division 1 clash for another year. Mooroolbark prevailed in the corresponding clash in 2022 by 78 points, before a 15-point victory in the semi-final. Montrose sits fourth on the ladder with a 5-3 record while the Mustangs are seventh with three wins and five losses.
MORNINGTON PENINSULA
Division 1
Saturday: Rosebud v Sorrento, at Rosebud, at 2pm
Sunday: Red Hill v Dromana, at Red Hill, at 2pm
Two local derbies will light up footy on the Mornington Peninsula over the King’s Birthday weekend.
On Saturday, Rosebud hosts Sorrento, and both sides are looking to bounce back after stinging 100-point defeats last round.
Sorrento did beat Rosebud by 53 points earlier in the season and the Sharks do have the leading goal kicker in the league Leigh Poholke, who will be looking to add to his 29 majors.
On Sunday, Red Hill and Dromana do battle. Red Hill is back in winning form and believes it can shock the undefeated Tigers. The Hillmen are likely to regain former Western Bulldogs AFL player Josh Prudden and Sandringham-listed Liam Reilly for the match. Dromana is 9-0 and coming off a 122-point demolition of Sorrento last week, with Sam and Billy Geurts, Jake Aarts and Sam Fowler in mint form.
OUTER EAST
Division 2
Saturday: Alexandra v Broadford, at Alexandra, at 2pm
Alexandra will continue its march to the Division 2 finals when it hosts Broadford on Saturday. The stand-alone match will correspond with the Alexandra Truck, Ute and Rod Show and should draw a bumper crowd. Alexandra beat Yarra Glen last week to improve its record to 5-1 and they also boast a win over Warburton Millgrove. The addition of Old Xaverians recruits Lucas O’Sullivan, Harry Aikman and Mitch Parker have strengthened the Rebels. So too has ex-Old Scotch forward Will Stewart, who leads the league goal kicking table with 28, including three bags of seven.

BENDIGO
South Bendigo v Gisborne at Harry Trott Oval, Maryborough v Strathfieldsaye at Princes Park, Sandhurst v Castlemaine at Queen Elizabeth Oval, Golden Square v Eaglehawk at Wade Street and Kyneton v Kangaroo Flat at Kyneton Showgrounds.
Can the defending premiers get their season back on track? Gisborne take on South Bendigo in a crucial battle for their finals aspirations. A loss would put the side three games behind as we head to the halfway mark of the season. The Bulldogs enter the match on a three-game losing streak with South Bendigo winning their first game in three matches last Saturday against Maryborough. In the other key match, Golden Square take on Eaglehawk in a second against third clash. The Hawks will be looking to avoid another close loss. Eaglehawk have lost their last two matches by a combined margin of four points and take on a Bulldogs side who have won their past three matches.
GOULBURN VALLEY
Shepparton v Benalla at Deakin Reserve, Kyabram v Shepparton Swans at Kyabram Recreation Reserve, Mansfield v Shepparton United at Mansfield Recreation Reserve, Rochester v Euroa at Moon Oval, Tatura v Seymour at Tatura Park, Echuca v Mooroopna at Victoria Park.
The last time Echuca faced Mooroopna, the team lost to Cats in the final round before the finals last year. Now the two teams face each other with Echuca unbeaten in 11 games, including eight wins this season. In a battle between two top four teams, Echuca will be looking to stop former AFL player Jackson Trengove who leads the goalkicking with 26 goals. He is joined by Christopher Nield for the Cats wh0 has kicked 23. The Cats will be hoping both players can help the team kick a winning score.
HAMPDEN
Camperdown v Hamilton at Leura Oval, Terang Mortlake v Koroit at Terang Recreation Reserve, Cobden v South Warrnambool at Cobden Community Reserve, North Warrnambool v Warrnambool at Bushfield Recreation Reserve, Portland v Port Fairy at Hanlon Park.
There could be a shake up in the top seven at the end of the round with six of the top seven teams to face each other on Saturday. The game of the round is last year’s premiers, Koroit, taking on the surprise packets this season in Terang Mortlake. The Bloods are currently joint top, at 7-1, with Koroit languishing in 7th after four wins and four losses. A loss by the Saints would make it harder for the seven time reigning premiers to make the finals. For Terang Mortlake it could have former AFL player Lewis Taylor available again after he played his first game for the club last Saturday since his retirement last year. In other games, the ladder leading South Warrnambool face a tough test against Cobden, in fifth, with North Warrnambool to take on rivals Warrnambool.
GIPPSLAND
Wonthaggi v Morwell at Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve, Sale v Traralgon at Sale Oval, Leongatha v Drouin at Leongatha Recreation Reserve, Moe v Maffra at Ted Summerton Reserve, Bairnsdale v Warragul at Bairnsdale City Oval.
Sale will be looking for their fourth win in a row and to keep within striking distance of the top four in the Gippsland league when the side takes on Traralgon. Traralgon, in fourth, is two games clear of Sale, in fifth, so a win by the Maroons would put them three games clear of the pack and on track to make finals again.
OVENS AND MURRAY
Yarrawonga v Wodonga at JC Lowe Oval, North Albury v Wangaratta Rovers at Bunton Park, Wodonga Raiders v Myrtleford at Birallee Park, Albury v Lavington at Albury Sports Ground.
In the closest competition in country football, just one game separates the top five teams heading into King’s Birthday weekend. From second to fifth it is just percentage between them. Yarrawonga and Wodonga will face each other looking to bounce back after a tough fortnight. Wodonga, after starting the season with five wins in a row, has now lost their last two and will be looking to bounce back. Yarrawonga lost their second match for the season against Wangaratta Rovers last Saturday with Thomas Baulch starring for the Hawks with two goals in a best on ground match. In other matches, ladder leaders Albury face Lavington with the chance to go four games clear of finals with a win. Meanwhile, Wodonga Raiders will be looking for their first win of the season over Myrtleford who have won just one game this season.
MILDURA
South Mildura v Robinvale Euston at Mildura Sporting Precinct, Merbein v Wentworth at Kenny Park, Ouyen United v Red Cliffs at Blackburn Park Ouyen, Mildura v Imperials at Bright Weightman Oval.
Merbein will be looking to claim their biggest win of the season and move into the top five with a win over last year’s grand finalists, Wentworth. The Magpies are currently 3-3 for the season but have been unable to beat anyone above them on the ladder so far. The club will be hoping to change it but will have to stop former West Coast and GWS player Jarrod Brander who has kicked goals for fun this year for Wentworth. He currently has 33 goals in six games, including three games where he has kicked more than six goals. In other matches, Robinvale Euston and Mildura have a chance to remain in the top three with games against South Mildura and Imperials respectively.
