West Preston-Lakeside is finally on the board in 2019.

The reigning NFL Division 1 premier took out six weeks of frustration on Lower Plenty on Saturday, recording a thumping 93-point win.

The Roosters only got better as the game went on finishing strongly with a seven-goal final quarter to complete the rout.

West Preston-Lakeside coach Rob Maiorana labelled the 22.18 (150) to 8.9 (57) win the team’s “first four-quarter performance all year”.

With games against Montmorency and Hurstbridge to come, Maiorana said the next fortnight would determine the club’s season.

“We had a slow start to the year but I thought last week was a step in the right direction against North Heidelberg,” he said.

“To let a 26-point lead slip away was disappointing but the signs were good and they’ve taken that into this week.

“Our first six games have been against sides in the top five.

“While we haven’t played great footy, we’ve come up against teams in good form and credit where credit’s due, they’ve been too good.

“We haven’t really had the opportunity to play sides outside the top four of five, so over the next couple of weeks we’ll be able to measure ourselves against those teams.”

However, the win was soured by another potential knee injury to star ruckman Mark Kovacevic.

Making his return after five weeks out, Kovacevic lasted just 15 minutes before going down again and will have scans this week to determine the severity.

Ahmed Saad was the star up front for the Roosters, booting seven goals to take his season tally to 29, second behind Bulldog Shane Harvey (32).

Roosters defender Mitch Tobin was best on ground in the win while Daniel Valeri (three goals) and Joel McDonald also impressed.

Meanwhile, Northcote Park crashed to a third straight defeat, humbled by 65 points by Heidelberg at Bill Lawry Oval.

Paul Dirago held his head up for the Cougars while Jackson Starcevich returned from injury to boot two goals.
