Former Essendon player Gach Nyuon wanted by Victoria Police
A former Essendon rookie and All Australian Under-18 ruckman once described by an AFL talent manager as a “glimpse into the future” of the sport is wanted by police over armed robbery and assault-related charges.

A former Essendon AFL rookie and All Australian Under-18 ruckman is wanted by Victoria Police.
Police said a warrant had been issued for the arrest of Gach Nyuon, 23, after he failed to appear at court for armed robbery and assault-related charges.
They said he was known to visit the Dandenong, Pascoe Vale and Coburg areas and the Melbourne CBD.
Police yesterday released an image of Nyuon in the hope someone has information about his whereabouts.
Nyuon, 205cm, was an outstanding player for the Dandenong Stingrays in the TAC Cup, starring for Vic Country at the national championships in 2015 and making the All Australian team.
Essendon placed him on its rookie list in 2016.
But he was let go after one season.
Nyuon popped up briefly in the VFL but has since played at a number of suburban clubs.
In an interview with the Herald Sun in 2015 Nyuon said his family fled war-torn Sudan when he was 10 months old and survived refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya before escaping to Melbourne when he was seven.
He said he had more than 70 brothers and sisters. His mother’s husband, politician William Nyuon Bany, was assassinated in 1996, before Gach was born.
“No doubt this is a glimpse into the future of the AFL,” AFL talent manager Kevin Sheehan said of Nyuon’s prospects.
His brother, Biggie, was drafted by Richmond last November after also coming through the Stingrays.
