Former Essendon defender Marty Gleeson was the highest ranked VAFA player on the weekend but it wasn’t enough to get his side across the link.
According to Premier Data’s stats, Gleeson recorded 194 ranking points in University Blues’ loss to University Black.
Gleeson had 33 disposals, the most on the ground.
The next best ranked played was his former Essendon teammate, Tom Cutler, with 107.
Henry Bennett and Lachlan Knight (27 disposals) were best for Blacks with 106 points.
Ben Hayes found plenty of the footy for Old Scotch finishing with a game high 127 ranking points and 33 disposals in the loss to Collegians.
Luke McCleary was the performed Lion with 32 touches and 118 ranking points.
In Old Xaverians, 17-point win over Fitzroy, Shaun Cross was the highest disposal winner on the ground with 30 touches.
Cross also led the way for ranking points with 125 after amassing 13 contested possessions.
Adam Richardson may have been the highest ranked player on the ground in the clash between Old Melburnians and Old Brighton but it wasn’t enough to lead the former across the line.
Richardson collected 16 disposals and had 17 contested possessions along with seven clearances on his way to 128 ranking points.
Tonners trio Max Benier (126 points), Harry Hill (123) and Hamish Dick (114) were next best.
Having the two best rated players on the ground wasn’t enough to help St Kevin’s across the line against St Bernard’s.
Will Coates and Billy Galimberti ranked best with 146 and 134 rankings respectively but the Snowdogs still ran out big winners.
Zac Overman ranked best for his side with 123 points from 16 touches.
