Now we’ve broken down 20 players from across the competition who will be key to their side’s chances.
Ben Ablett, West Brunswick
Enjoying a standout season which saw him turn out for the VAFA Big V Premier B-Division 3 side. Consistently makes the right decisions with ball in hand. Displays great composure.
Tim Angus, Whitefriars
Has established himself as a senior regular in the last two seasons. Angus is now enjoying the best season of his career.
Eamonn Avery, Hawthorn
Carrying on the family legacy as one of the key players for the Hawks.
Blaise Bajram, South Melbourne Districts
Been in super form all season as one of the more consistent Swans.
Nick Beer, St John’s Old Collegians
Joined the club at the start of the season after last playing for Keysborough in 2023. Plays a key role in extracting the ball out of the middle.
Griffin Box, Aquinas
In his first season of senior footy, he’s been brilliant straight out of the under-16s. Has brilliant skills across halfback.
Rory Chipman, Old Yarra Cobras
A club great of the last 15 years having been named in the Team of the Decade 2013-2022. Been in brilliant form again this year after missing all of last year. Superb across halfback.
Allister Clarke, MHSOB
A new face at the club this season. Clarke has played just nine games and been in the best on eight occasions. He’s been a brilliant pick up.
Ryder Daffy, Canterbury
The youngster only arrived in the middle of the season out of the APS Footy system but he’s thriving playing open age. He’s got 20 goals in four games.
Corey Ely, St John’s Old Collegians
One of the most consistent players for the JOCs in recent seasons as the skipper. Made the Division 3 Team of the Year last season.
Harry Flack, Aquinas
A young player who continues to take great sides at the footy club. Despite Aquinas’ challenges, he’s been terrific throughout.
Wil Fleming, Hawthorn
In his second season with the Hawks as one of the co-captains. He’s taken on the added responsibility well and been one of his side’s best.
Jack Hall, Old Yarra Cobras
Has rediscovered his best form this season as one of the league’s leading goalkickers with 40 for the season. Super powerful overhead and a difficult match-up for any opponent.
Will Hellier, MHSOB
Capable of playing in all areas of the ground. He can win a game off his boot and also take some magnificent hangers.
Bill Irving, West Brunswick
The experience of Irving is set to be key as the Magpies immediately look to bounce back into Division 1. Irving is a club legend who remains one of the competition’s most dangerous.
Conor Jacoby, South Melbourne Districts
Jacoby has been the Swans most consistent performer this season. He’s been a sensational recruit from Mornington.
Jacob McElroy, St Mary’s Salesian
A small forward who is consistently able to get to the right spots. Got his body right this year and is one of the league’s leading goalkickers with 40.
James Perrin, Whitefriars
Has become a leading force, especially inside forward 50 with his side’s main forward sidelined for the year. Perrin has booted 28 goals and been named in the best nine times.
Trent Ryan, St Mary’s Salesian
In his second season with the club and has established himself as one of the Saints most consistent players. Does plenty of good work forward of centre.
Michael Topp, Canterbury
The Cobras’ back-to-back best and fairest winner is enjoying another fine season, playing a key role in some of the recent upset wins.
