VAFA Round 3: The leading players in the key stats

It was an entertaining weekend of VAFA footy with a number of new faces performing while some old regulars continued their dominance. See who led the major stats here.

St Kevin’s midfielder Luke Winter lead the charge in his side’s 40-point win over Old Melburnians on the weekend with a round-high 173 ranking points.

Winter’s 35-disposal game to help his side go to 3-0 to start the season was also highlighted by his 15 clearances which was the most for the round.

In front of goal, it was Old Scotch’s Tom Blenheim and Old Brighton youngster James Hope who lead the way with five goals each.

Hope’s breakout performance in his first year in the VAFA, a year out of school, didn’t go unnoticed as he rose to the top of the goal kicking leaderboard alongside James Tarrant who booted four for Old Scotch on Saturday.

Old Haileybury pair Josh Gasparini and Brodie Steele continued their fine seasons with 37 possessions each on the weekend against University Blacks.

The 37 disposals was the most picked up out of the five Round 3 matches.

University Blues skipper and ruck Ayce Cordy was a notable performer on Saturday with the second most clearances with 12 and the equal-third most hit outs with 43.

Jackson Paine for the Old Melburnians had the most tackles with 14 while Old Haileybury’s Lachlan Treverton had the most hit outs with 52.
