NORTH Brunswick sealed the VAFA Division 4 minor premiership with a 26-point victory over Parkside on Saturday.

Chasing their first premiership in 37 years, the Bulls are in the box seat after ending the Devils’ eight-game winning streak, 12.13 (85) to 7.17 (59).

The result has North Brunswick three games ahead of Parkside at the top of the ladder with three rounds of the home-and-away season remaining.

The teams are destined for a clash in the opening week of finals, with Parkside two games clear of third-placed St Francis Xavier.

The Bulls won their first meeting this year by 62 points in Round 6 and while this game was closer, it was still predominantly played on North Brunswick’s terms.

The Bulls opened a 20-point quarter-time lead and although Parkside pegged the margin back to seven at halftime, it should have been in front after registering 4.9.

North Brunswick re-established its authority in the third term and was home when it held a 25-point advantage with a term left.

Brendon George and Michael Salloum bagged four goals apiece for the victors, while Adam Densten was their best.

Only one game separates St Francis Xavier and sixth-placed Eley Park Sharks, with South Mornington and South Melbourne Districts also pushing for a finals berth.

South Melbourne Districts will be ruing its loss to previously-winless Masala on Saturday, which broke through in 2018 with a 14.11 (95) to 11.12 (78) victory.

St Francis Xavier accounted for Elsternwick by 91 points to close in on a finals berth, while South Mornington claimed a commanding win over Eley Park Sharks.

Tom Boole bagged six goals to earn the Tigers a 23.19 (157) to 10.7 (67) win and Box Hill North toppled Mt Lilydale 16.15 (111) to 6.16 (52).
