OLD Paradians tuned up for this weekend’s Victorian Amateur Football Association top-of-the-table clash against Whitefriars with a thumping victory on Saturday.
The ladder-leader outclassed Power House away from home, triumphing by 63 points, 17.17 (119) to 8.8 (56).
The result extended the club’s unbeaten run in Division 2 to seven games, with Luke McCann contributing three goals in a best-afield display.
Matthew Biviano (two goals), Warren Jeffrey, Andrew Souza, Michael Bellizia and James Kappos were also named in the winning side’s best players.
Whitefriars suffered their only defeat this season against UHS-VU in Round 6.
The pair will lock horns at Garvey Oval after Whitefriars hammered Emmaus St Leos by 67 points on Saturday, 18.14 (122) to 8.7 (55).
In Division 1, Preston Bullants inflicted Ormond’s first loss of the campaign and improved their record to 5-2 with a 39-point victory.
The Bullants were 21 points down at the first break after a goalless opening term, but responded with 18 majors to eight in the remaining three quarters to post a 18.14 (122) to 12.11 (83) win.
Samual Fleming, Robert Holland and Olsen Clark starred for the fourth-placed side, while Tindarra Hood kicked four goals.
In Division 3, La Trobe University remains winless at the bottom of the ladder after a 39-point loss against Hawthorn.
The Trobers trailed at each break and went down 13.19 (97) to 8.10 (58). Bradley Fendyk, Matthew Ogle and Sebastian Nelson led the way.
