DIAMOND Creek has appointed Tanya Hetherington as its Victorian Women’s Football League premier division coach for next season.
Hetherington has been a player and committee member for the past eight years and was assistant coach in 2015. She has a bachelor’s degree in sports coaching and is part of a select group that will participate in level two accreditation for AFL coaching next year.
Hetherington replaces Brad Lederman, who has been made the club’s first female development coach. This will involve working one-to-one with the players to help them grow as footballers.
Club president Laura Attard said Hetherington was a great fit for the role.
“We’re thrilled to have her wealth of knowledge,” Attard said. “She is a natural leader. We’re confident Tanya’s passion and leadership will ignite and empower our senior playing list to reach new levels of accomplishment.”
Pre-season training starts this Thursday (November 19) at the Plenty Park hockey field.
