Somerville’s new coach boasts impressive and diverse credentials.
Chris Gamble joins the Eagles following assistant coaching roles in the AFLW and VFL.
He’s currently with Collingwood’s AFL Women’s side as head of women’s development after overseeing the backline group in the AFLW season held earlier this year.
Before that Gamble had three years with Frankston’s VFL side as midfield and forward coach.
Gamble served as head coach of the Royal Australian Navy men’s team during the 2020 and 2021 seasons and also led the Cerberus’ men’s team in the Southern Football League in 2018.
He has almost two decades of experience in the Australian Navy.
“Chris comes to Somerville with diversified experience in the VFL, AFLW, Australian Defence Force and Australian Navy,’’ Somerville said on social media.
“Chris has the experience and attributes to lead the Somerville FNC into an exciting future.’’
Gamble replaces Brad Canavan, who guided Somerville to the preliminary final in MPNFL Division 2 this season.
