There was a mix of Carlton and Collingwood in the Port Melbourne Colts forward line on Saturday.

Ex-AFL Blue Brendan Fevola and former Collingwood player Marley Williams played alongside each other in Fev’s first game for the Port Colts.

Unfortunately for Colts, it didn’t translate into a victory; Dingley was too good, coming from behind to score a 15-point win, 10.15 (75) to 9.6 (60), at JL Murphy Reserve.

Fevola, sporting a new bleached blond hair do, kicked four goals, including a ripper off the ground, after joining the club late last week.

“He was okay,’’ Port Melbourne Colts coach Graeme Yeats said.

“He can’t run a great deal…we’ve got about four blokes in our forward line who can’t run anyway.

“Marley Williams has Plantar fasciitis so he parks himself close to goal.’’

Yeats said Fevola hooked up with the club through Colts player Chewy Scanlon, who coaches him at Diamond Valley superules.

“We sort of fluked getting him,’’ Yeats said.

“And because we’ve had so many injuries and so many unavailabilities…he put a call out during the week to see if anyone from his superules team would suit up for Port Colts and Fev said, ‘yeah, I’ll have a run’.

“Chewy said, ‘in the twos? He said, ‘yeah, I’ll have a run in the twos’. Chewy said, ‘please, we’ll play you in the ones if you make yourself available’.

“So it was kind of just a fluke that he played.’’

Fevola enjoyed the day and is likely to play more games in the back half of the season as he prepares for a boxing bout with triple premiership forward Cameron Mooney in August.

“He said on the day that he might have another couple of runs with us,’’ Yeats said.

“He’s trying to get fit for his boxing match.’’

Collingwood VFL player Zach Molloy, brother of AFLW superstar Chloe Molloy, also made his debut for Port Melbourne Colts and was named the Colts’ best player.

“Zach came across to us a few weeks ago from Whittlesea,’’ Yeats said.

“He’s on Collingwood VFL list, he’s back from a hamstring injury and he was good.

He’s going to be a good player.’’

Port Colts hurried to a 25-point lead at quarter time but Dingley surged back as Kristen Feehan, Justin Van Unen (four goals), Lucas Walmsley and Jackson Peet asserted their authority.

*Former Melbourne and Port Adelaide player Jack Watts kicked three goals on debut for Bentleigh, helping the Demons to a crucial win over East Malvern, 14.7 (91) to 9.11 (65).

The win eases Bentleigh’s relegation fears, lifting it two games clear of bottom side East Malvern.
