ST Kevin’s has dropped a bombshell with coach Shannon Grant resigning from the VAFA Premier club after just one year.
The defending premiers announced on Saturday night the AFL champion had stepped down for personal reasons.
Grant, the 1999 Norm Smith medallist in North Melbourne’s AFL grand final win, took St Kevin’s to its maiden top-tier premiership in his first year at the helm.
“The president of the St Kevin’s Old Boys Football Club, Michael Doble, has confirmed that senior coach, Shannon Grant, has regretfully resigned for personal reasons,” the club said in a statement.
“The SKOBFC community would like to acknowledge Shannon’s outstanding contribution to the club in his one year as senior coach, which included our first VAFA A Grade premiership in 2017.
“The club is currently assessing options for its senior coach for the 2018 season and intends to make an announcement as soon as possible.”
Approached for further comment on Sunday, Doble referred Leader to the club’s statement.
Leader has tried to make contact with Grant.
