Port Melbourne Colts has secured the most sought after signature in the Southern league this off-season, locking away former Hawthorn rookie Shem Tatupu for season 2024.
Tatupu played 11 matches for St Kilda City this year before injuring his knee.
While it was initially suspected as an ACL, it was later revealed as just bone bruising.
Rapt with his club’s latest addition, Colts footy boss Elton Stevens said Tatupu brings: “Competitiveness, a thirst for success and excitement around the group that we don’t have to play against him anymore”
The Colts made it through to the preliminary final this year after two impressive finals wins over Springvale Districts and Dingley.
With a strong midfield, headlined by ex-Cat and Blue Billie Smedts and skipper Justin Taylor, an A-Grade ruckman was high on the Colts priority list.
“At the end of the season we identified our deficiencies and he goes a long way to strengthening them,” Stevens said.
Tatupu signed alongside fellow ex-St Kilda City player Jackson Vargas, who played for Elsternwick in 2023.
