Few find the footy easier.

Nathan Freeman has continued his superb form for Dingley by collecting a season-high 52 disposals on Saturday in the Dingoes’ eighth consecutive win.

The ex-AFL Saint and Magpie had 45 possessions in successive weeks prior the King’s Birthday bye before eclipsing it in his first outing back at the weekend.

His first bout of 45 was accompanied by two goals while his second included one.

Saturday’s performance was different, according to Dingley coach Zach Horsley, as he played a more defensive role in a unique match against Bentleigh where 24 of 27 majors were kicked to one end.

“He had a lot of it, I didn’t think (at the time it was) that much,” he said.

“He played a bit more of a defensive role this week given the wind, he gave us an extra chop out in the back line – especially being a bit undermanned down there.”

Horsley said Freeman’s ability to spread from the contest is the difference between him and other midfielders while also praising his impact on the game once he gets the footy.

“His ability to spread has been the difference; he does his work at the contest but he’s been getting secondary or third possessions on the outside because he is working so hard,” he said.

“He sets up the game for us and his disposal is usually part of our scoring chains.

“I haven’t got those stats in front of me but the weekend was probably a bit harder to get those, especially into the breeze, but the two weeks prior he was involved in 12 or 13 scoring chains in those touches.”

The Dingoes won the match 15.7 (97) to 12.10 (82), setting up a mouth-watering top of the table clash with Cheltenham this weekend.

Elsewhere, Port Melbourne Colts defeated Mordialloc 11.16 (82) to 7.8 (50). Cheltenham beat ChelseaHeights 14.9 (93) to 3.10 (28). Cranbourne beat St Kilda City 16.25 (121) to 7.6 (48) and SpringvaleDistricts defeated St Paul’s McKinnon 6.9 (45) to 5.9 (39).
