“He’s back,” Cranbourne coach Steve O’Brien said.

Legendary local forward Marc Holt has made a dramatic return from retirement to feature in Cranbourne’s 12.16 to 8.8 win over Chelsea Heights on Saturday.

Holt kicked two majors and coach Steve O’Brien says he is sticking around for good.

“There’s been conversations going for quite a while,” he said.

“We needed to work out exactly what he wanted to do and he’s got a young family as well and we wanted to make sure that everything was okay there.

“At the end of the day he misses footy and it’s been a massive part of his life, he was missing it too much.

“After a discussion with his family it was agreed that he needs to get back and play footy.”

O’Brien says the Eagles were “surprised” to see Holt at training but were over the moon to have him back.

“Everyone loves playing with the big fella, he has been an icon for so long,” he said.

“We were rapt to have him back, it was a pleasant surprise for the boys when he rocked up at training last week.”

The Eagles take on Bentleigh this Saturday.
