Narre Warren’s immediate future is set, with the south eastern powerhouse to remain in the Outer East league in 2024.

The Magpies were unsuccessful in their bid to join the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League and have opted against moving elsewhere.

The decision comes amid speculation Narre Warren would join either the Southern or Eastern league.

The Magpies have won the past two Outer East premierships, defeating Berwick in 2019 and Woori Yallock in 2022, and have finished as minor premiers this season.

Outer East CEO Brett Connell is rapt to have the Pies back in 2024.

“They’re a good fit for us, they’re a model citizen in terms of football and netball, so we’re pleased they’re going to go around again with us,” he says.

“Who knows what the future looks like, we have 12 months to work with Stuart and the crew at Narre Warren to see what’s the best fit for them.

“They’re a very well-run club, they’re a role model for other clubs along the south east — they’re strong, they’re vibrant, they support our competition, so we’re rapt to have them back, that’s for sure.”

After the unsuccessful MPFNL result last week, Narre Warren president Stuart Stephenson said the club would assess all options moving forward.

“There was a strong push within the club to be in the MPFNL – that was definitely our preferred option,” he said.

“We need to regroup now and have a look at what our different options are.”

Stephenson has been sought after for an updated comment.
