ST KILDA City handed out a football lesson to Oakleigh District in their Division 1 clash at the Peanut Farm on Saturday, with a six-goal opening term and an eight-goal blitz in the last quarter setting up a convincing 18.11 (119) to 4.6 (30) win.

“The boys played well today, we jumped them at the start and I was really pleased with our finish,” Saints coach Richard Houston said.

Although the Oaks managed to throw the shackles around the Saints’ running game in the second and third quarters, they were all out of answers in the end as the likes of Mykeiti Lefau, on loan from Casey Scorpions, midfielder Xavier Jordan and the industrious Jackson Vargas upped the ante.

Troy Parker created havoc up forward for the winners, with six goals, while Ryan Carroll and the Jesse Firebrace booted four apiece.

Hugh Mason on a wing and Ray Lengyel down back also excelled for the Saints.

Daniel Kirby, Mitch Pierce, Jake Mullen and Brad Szalek did best for the outgunned Oaks.

Meanwhile, at half-time at Ben Kavanagh Reserve, David was poised to upset Goliath when Port Colts trailed ladder leader Mordialloc by just two points.

But 12 goals to two in the second half settled the argument and the Bloods stormed home to win, 17.14 (116) to 7.5 (47).

In the end, the Colts had no answer to Todd Bastion, Nathan Evans (four goals), Hamish Curtis and strong-marking forward James Morris, who booted six.

In Division 2, Caulfield went down to Highett 15.16 (106) to 8.7 (55).
