CRANBOURNE full-forward Marc Holt has been called to attend a tribunal hearing this week after being investigated for an incident against Berwick on June 30.
The outcome could further delay him reaching 1000 career goals.
Holt moved to 999 after slotting seven goals in the Eagles’ 88-point win over Tooradin-Dalmore at Casey Fields on Saturday.
As he neared the grand milestone a big crowd gathered in anticipation but he missed some gettable shots in the final term.
“He hoiked a couple,’’ Cranbourne coach Steve O’Brien said. “He probably over-kicked them I think.’’
O’Brien, though, was delighted to report Holt was “back to his very best’’.
“In that third quarter he was unstoppable,’’ he said.
“His marking was an absolute highlight.
“At halftime it probably didn’t look like it would happen and then he just exploded in the third quarter (kicking four goals in the term).’’
Cranbourne won 23.16 (154) to 10.6 (66), but the game was an arm wrestle in the first half, with Tooradin-Dalmore trailing by only nine points at the long interval.
“It was a pretty tough battle for the first half, Tooradin came to play,’’ O’Brien said.
“Full credit to the boys, they worked out a few things that we needed to iron out and we had a big third quarter and blew the game open.’’
In a third quarter blitz, Cranbourne kicked 11 goals to Tooradin’s one to sprint to a 72-point lead.
Shaun Marusic was outstanding, along with Glenn Osborne and ruckman Michael Wenn. Nathan Gardiner slotted four goals and Kirk Dickson three.
Tooradin’s best were Brad Lenders, Nick Lang and Jordan Kelly.
