SONS of guns make up a rollcall of renowned footy surnames.

School Sport Victoria has unveiled its under-15 boys’ football team – with a wealth of talent descended from ex-AFL stars and suburban greats.

Among them, Strathmore Secondary product Koby Bewick – son of former Essendon goalsneak Darren – alongside Tevita Rodan (St Bernard’s College), son of ex-Tiger and Power dasher, David.

And you’ll recognise the surname of Louis Salopek, son of ex-Port Adelaide midfielder Steve, and Tom Steinfort, whose dad is former Cat and Magpie, Carl.

The second-coming of local legends also catch the eye.

Whitefriars’ Josh Djordevic follows dad Mark, a four-time premiership winner and 300-gamer for Eastern league power Donvale, while Tom Krawczyk (Rowville SC), son of ex-Scoresby captain and four-time best and fairest Matt, has been named as an emergency.

Baxter Sruk – the younger brother of Rowville Football Club VFL-listed duo Tyson (Carlton) and Mitchell (Box Hill) – also features. Rowville premiership coach Ben Wise says Baxter could well become the best of the trio.

Meanwhile, two schools boast three representatives apiece in the under-15 girls’ team, spearheaded by Berwick and Rowville Secondary, among 21 schools represented.

The teams will compete in the SSV Australian Football Championships from July 27 to August 3 on the Gold Coast.
