Romsey will hold star forward Mitch Jensen to his contract with president Eden Jedwab rejecting rumours of unrest at the club.
The Redbacks denied two clearance requests in the week leading up to the transfer window closing, with Jensen seeking a return to Essendon Doutta Stars.
Jensen sits fourth on the competition’s goalkicking table with 43 majors and has played a key role in Romsey’s climb to the top of the Riddell District Football League ladder.
However, he missed Saturday’s loss to Wallan and the Redbacks have a bye this weekend.
Jedwab said the club would hold the 2014 Footscray VFL premiership winner to his contract.
“As it stands, he’s a contracted player and we’ve denied the transfer,” Jedwab said.
“He put in clearance to Doutta Stars, which is his junior club, to play with some friends.
“(We want him to stay) if not we want to be compensated for it.”
Jensen only signed for the Redbacks this season after leaving Ovens and Murray runner-up Wangaratta.

After he was absent from the loss to Wallan, rumours swirled about Jensen’s unrest at Romsey Park.
Jedwab said the speculation was off the mark.
“I’ve spoken to him. He said he had no issue with the club, no issue with the coach (Corey O’Sullivan), no issue with way he’s been treated, he just wanted to play with guys he grew up with,” he said.
“If Mitch doesn’t play for Romsey anymore, we move on, our football club doesn’t revolve around Mitch Jensen.
“All our players are paid up to date.
“Every year when Romsey is up the top those rumours happen, every year.
“If we were sitting eighth or 10th nobody, would say boo about it, (the rumours) come from clubs that are a little bit jealous, that’s it.”
Romsey remain on top of the ladder on percentage, equal on points with Diggers Rest.
After this weekend’s bye, the Redbacks return to action against Lancefield on July 13.
