ROMSEY will host the Riddell District Football Netball League grand final for the fourth year in succession in 2017.
League operations manager Steve Williams said clubs were asked at the end of last season if they preferred only having two venues host all finals, instead of matches being shared around multiple clubs.
Most clubs voted in favour of two venues, with Sunbury’s Clarke Oval and Romsey selected for their high-level ground conditions, spacious football and netball changerooms, the quality surface of the netball courts and high-standard spectator amenities.
Both offer sufficient spectator parking and a secure venue which will minimise loss of revenue for RDFNL gate takings.
“Aligning to a finals host model that has been successfully deployed across several other country leagues; the RDFNL will adopt a process that will see all clubs get an equal slice of the pie over multiple years,” Williams said.
Romsey Park is also slated to host the qualifying final, second elimination final and first semi-final this season.
Clarke Oval will have the first elimination final, second semi-final and preliminary final.
To ensure money is evenly split among clubs running the bar, canteen and raffle, a roster has been drawn up and will rotate.
Finals start on the weekend of August 26 and the grand final will be held on September 17.
