Australian heavyweight boxing champion Kris Terzievski has made a return to the local footy field.

The dual heavyweight title-holder made his debut for Riddell District club Wallan against Macedon on Saturday.

The 33-year-old kicked a goal as the Magpies secured a comprehensive 54-point win over the Cats at Greenhill Reserve.

Terzievski made a late bid to play, entering a clearance three days before the transfer window shut on June 30.

He grew up with Wallan coach Daniel Nolan, is good friends with the likes of Steve Boyall and Corey Viani and played senior football for Craigieburn before turning his attention to the sweet science.

Kris Terzievski defeated Paul Gallen to win the Australian and Australasian heavyweight titles last year.

Terzievski hosted Wallan at his Crew Fitness gym during pre-season and the seed was planted for a footy comeback.

He rotated between centre half-back and ruck on Saturday and impressed with his endurance and tap work.

Matt Perri and Angelos Sidhom booted three goals, while Patrick Baccari was best-on, as Wallan claimed a comfortable win to jump into second on the RDFNL ladder.

Macedon was held to just a single goal in three of four quarters, going down 13.14 (92) to 5.8 (38) with the Cats now sixth on percentage.

Terzievski united the Australian and Australasian heavyweight belts for the first time in 100 years with a unanimous win over rugby league great Paul Gallen last year.

The southpaw fought rival Faiga Opelu in March but suffered an ankle injury during the bout and the fight was declared a draw.

He is expected to return to the ring later in the year.
